| a simple test. |
[Oct. 10th, 2008|09:49 am] |
the election season would be so much nicer if everyone would follow this simple test:
before you say something about the candidate you do not endorse, think "if i heard someone say what i'm about to say, but instead it was said about [insert your candidate here], would i actually consider what they were saying because they were making a valid point, or would i just be really pissed off because of the way in which it was said?"
everyone has different opinions. it's ok if they're not the same as yours. that's the beautiful thing about living in America. but you probably still want to be friends with those people who believe other than you do after the election is over.
i'm done.

| we're everywhere. |
[Oct. 8th, 2008|09:40 am] |
beth and i joined happy's running club. every tuesday about 200 people get together to run a 5k, and then drink beer and eat pizza. it's pretty sweet. i'm still really out of shape, but each week gets a little bit better. next week, i'm going to run the whole thing in a decent time.
anyway, the following conversation happened yesterday while we were running: 2 guys: *blah, blah, blah* LSMSA *blah, blah, blah* me (turning around upon hearing): "who went to LSMSA?" 2 guys: "we did" me: "me too. what year did y'all graduate?" 2 guys: "1996" *blah, blah, blah* me: "funny, i'm actually going back there next weekend to talk to the kids" 1 guy: "for connections weekend? me too"
then, turns out this guy knows my dad because they were in Leadership Louisiana together. and he knows my brother. and i know his little brother.
life is crazy.
i wanted to get a chance to talk to him after the run, but i didn't get to. i guess i'll talk to him next weekend...

| i hate election time |
[Oct. 7th, 2008|04:10 pm] |
i really need this election to be over.
i have firm beliefs and opinions about the election and the candidates. but i don't feel the need to be obnoxious about them and cram them down people's throats. what happened to intelligent arguments in which you trade valid points back and forth?
i can't stand smug people. or people who are generally very level headed and intelligent who are just momentarily lapsing into smugness. especially when i completely don't agree with them and think what they're being smug about is idiotic.
i can't count the times in the past few months that i've had to bite my tongue to keep myself from saying, "you don't really believe that do you? you're way too smart to really, actually fall for that!"
i've wanted to post my actual thoughts and feelings about the elections, but i can't think of anything i'd want to be less than one of those people who post snidely expecting everyone else to agree with them, or else who try to make those who don't agree with them seem stupid or heartless or whatever.
i would just like to plead with everyone who wants to post about the election: please, for the love of God, PLEASE try to use actual arguments instead of emotion and hype if you're going to insist on writing in such a way that makes it clear that you think that everyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid or ill-informed. believe it or not, there are actually good, intelligent people who do disagree with you for valid reasons who are neither heartless nor idiotic.
i just really need this election to be over.
and i am terrified for our country if it turns out badly...

| aNYONE WANT TO GO TO THE "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE" DANCE CONCERT IN HOUSTON NEXT SATURDAY?!?!?! |
[Oct. 5th, 2008|03:43 pm] |
i had bought FLOOR seats to the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE top 10 dance concert tour for this coming weekend in Houston (the show is saturday, October 11) for Colleen's Birthday. but Colleen is taking the PCAT the following saturday and doesn't feel comfortable taking a weekend trip the week before, because she needs to do all of the studying she can get. but now i need to get rid of these tickets! if i could find someone who wanted to go with me, i already have a free place to stay. we could still go. or i just need to sell them.
DOES ANYBODY WANT TO GO OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO GO??? |

| | enamored | ] | I have a new kitty friend! Unsurprisingly she's from McNeil, the same mama's that I got Frank from. I just felt so bad for her. She was the only black kitten in litter of all whites and a runt to boot. All the solid little fat cats were edging her out of the food sources and on top of that she had the eye goop issue that i'm currently working on fixing. I probably should have taken her brothers and sisters too but she had the least of a fighting chance, especially with the coyotes having picked off two of her siblings. :( I wasn't going to take any of them but she just tugged at my heart strings so bad I couldn't say no. I just hope Reggie fixes those damn mama cats like he said he would.
Anywho. Her name is Ms. Georgia Peach and she's only 5 weeks old I estimate but she's really little. She's been impressing all the fellows over at Steve's with her overwhelming tinyness and sweet nature and penchant for wanting to take naps on people's shoulders.
Daww tiny kitten is extra cute! :D |

Heading out to San Jose tomorrow morning for the Mobile Content and Marketing Expo. I interviewed the president/founder of Myxer a while back, January or so, and I'm slightly excited to see how well they've done and grown.
I have business cards, a brief/laptop case that's nice, a new stack of pens and I'm off to a gaggle of technology peeps. It probably won't be as nerdy as CES was, but I'll to wait and see. This time I'm bringing a camera, so I'll have proof of the nerdom. Oh I hope I get some pictures of bloggers.
Feel free to call Grace and talk to her or give her support for her test monday and paper soon thereafter. You'll do great babes! |

| The things you see at a hospital... |
[Oct. 2nd, 2008|05:42 pm] |
so I'm working the hospital kiosk right now. An expecting mother just rolled by on a wheel chair wearing only a hospital gown. granted, I've never been pregnant before, so I'm not quite sure if I would have someone roll me around in just a sheet but just for the benefit of the doubt ill assume that being prego and about to pop would mean that wearing underwear at this point would be considered uncomfortable or just pointless? Im fine with that notion really.... but if you plan on free ballin in your gown, it would be nice for the surrounding community if you would not have your legs open so wide that I can see your naughty place.
Yes you just read that.
I can't believe I just saw that. |

Pretty much the best online game ever...
do it. it's pretty much the best game ever.
it's never-ending. it's always changing. it's always at least pseudo-challenging. and it's awesome if you're trying to waste mass quantities of time.
plus, it's educational! and fun!

| now i remember.... |
[Oct. 1st, 2008|10:20 am] |
I am suddenly obsessed (again) with Facebook's Honesty Box application. I think it's brilliant. I love to go and make random nice comments and think about how people will react when they read such great things about themselves. It's always nice to read nice things about yourself.
On the other hand... sometimes, the truth hurts. But sadly, this seems to be the only way people are willing to tell you (me) the truth these days. I wonder if it's fear, or manners, or a lack of caring, or a little bit of all 3 that makes that true.
Experiment: Anybody wanna tell me something honest and actually fess up to it???

| I haven't done this in years.... |
[Sep. 28th, 2008|05:53 pm] |
1] Who was your FIRST prom date? That would be Lori Hargroder, junior year at LSMSA, we make corsages (sp?) out of the paper bags you get photos in and I wore an incredibly blue and fluffy dress. It was a magical night.
[2] Do you still talk to your FIRST love? yes we share weird conversations and reminisce about highschool every once in a while.... she now has many offspring oddly enough.
[3] What was your FIRST alcoholic drink? Bud light, 2001 in the back of a corolla, i puked my brains out that night. There was also a three legged turtle involved.
[4] What was your FIRST job? Car detailing, I had my own business in the summer between fag school sessions, it's insane how much money a kid can make washing cars...
[5] What was your FIRST car?1985 ford escort with the red velvet interior. I was big pimpin.
[6] Who was the FIRST person to text you today? dom, telling me he might be late.
[7] Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning? my mom, because i needed to call her.
[8] Who was your FIRST grade teacher? I don't remember her name, but i remember she got married in a hot air balloon that year.
[9] Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane? Belgium, apparently i do it big.
[10] Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them? Carmen Meaux, not really.
[11] What was your FIRST sport played? softball at 6 years old....I was doomed to like boobs.
[12] Where was your FIRST sleepover? My house
[13] Who was the FIRST person you talked to today? Dom at 5 this morning, because I ended up being late.
[14] Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time? my brother, i was the flower girl. I had to walk down the aisle and hold his hand. I was eight, and i still didn't want to touch him because he had a "popeye"......and yes, my mom told me later i really did say that.
[15] What was the FIRST thing you did this morning? got ready for work
[16] What was the FIRST concert you ever went to? Evanessence...it was free and i got to see AMY lee from 5 feet away!
[17] FIRST tattoo or piercing? tramp tat on the lower back - chinese symbol representing "woman" [18] FIRST foreign country you went to for vaca? Belgium, and the only one thus far. [19] What was your FIRST run in with the law? um, never? [20] When was your FIRST detention? heh, um never. I was too scared to ever get in trouble. I never even had a tier at fag school for that matter. [21] What was the FIRST state you lived in? Louisiana, one and only. [22] Who was the FIRST person to break your heart? until last year i would have put some highschool love, but then my fortunate soul had a rude awakening
[23] Who was your FIRST roommate? Celina torres... I LOVE MY MEXIMELT!
[24] Where did you go on your FIRST limo ride? actually, never been on one.
[25] Who will be the FIRST to repost this? not a damn clue. i'm amazed i did it. |

[Sep. 28th, 2008|05:44 pm] |
dear all please excuse my last post filled with girly time of the month emotions.
hope you are all doing well and are enjoying these past few days of good weather.
My life currently consists of: running, EMT class, Micro lab (yes, still the red bug) and work work work to pay the bills.
As usual i fill my schedule to the point of no rest, but hopefully i learn my lesson soon enough to be able to see you all before we all croak and die.
And on another note, the recent presidential debate was very, very gay.
the end. |
